CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE INQUIRE MIGRATION RESEARCH LABORATORY PROGRAM
CREDI, in cooperation with the regional WB-MIGNET network, announces a call for applications for researchers for the InQuire Migration Research Laboratory Program as part of the Research Incubator. The goal of this program is to support social science research with a special focus on migration research and enable researchers to acquire the skills to develop quality research project proposals relevant to the discussion and adoption of policies and programs in the Western Balkans. The program is implemented as part of the InQuire Research Incubator, within which, in the previous period, two generations of young researchers from BiH successfully completed a similar program. More information can be found here. The third generation of participants will be selected from the countries of the Western Balkans and the Republic of Türkiye. More about the program background can be found here. There are limited spots available for non-members of the WB-MIGNET network.
WHAT IS THE FORMAT? One semester (15-week program with two-hour sessions and individual activities). Each session will be organized online as a combination of presentations and live discussions between participants. More about the format can be found here. The program is expected to start from 15th January 2024.
WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR? Early-career researchers, such as PhD students, and teaching and research assistants at universities and research institutes, with advanced knowledge about migration topics but basic or limited knowledge about the research design and methods used in migration research. Please note that previous experience in conducting social science research is needed. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR PARTICIPANTS? Participants in the program will:
- Acquire skills to develop quality research project proposals in social science research.
- Develop their own research proposal for the selected topic in migration research.
- Gain access to the research infrastructure of partners in the WB-MIGNET network.
- Have the possibility of hiring experienced researchers as advisors (co-mentors) from recognised research institutes and gaining practical experience working on mentors’ ongoing projects.
- Establish cooperation with institutions and donors as potential beneficiaries of the results of their research during the implementation of the program.
- Participate in study visits to international research infrastructures and exchange visits to institutions within the WB-MIGNET network, as well as the possibility of participating in the final conference of the WBC-RRI.NET project to be held in Skopje in early February 2024. Participation in study visits, exchange visits, and conferences will be subject to selection procedures.
- All research proposals that will be developed within the program will enter competition for the Best Proposal Award.
HOW TO FINANCE THE PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM? The costs of the program are covered for all candidates that will be selected for the program based on their previous experience and description of the idea for the research proposal in migration research. Your rights and responsibilities for program participation will be defined in your agreement with CREDI.
WHAT ARE THE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS? Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Students enrolled in the 3rd cycle of studies or who have previously completed the 2nd cycle of studies and are living, studying, or working in one of the Western Balkan countries.
- They are available to attend the program in online mode in 2023.
- They applied to the program by sending a CV, a motivation letter, and topic proposal.
- They are available to be involved in mentors’ ongoing projects.
WHAT ARE THE SELECTION CRITERIA? Candidates will be selected based on a review of their CV, motivation letter, and a brief description of their research proposal.
