On May 28, 2024, the CREDI research team successfully organized focus group discussion on the topic of informal employment on digital platforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event brought together numerous experts from the field of work and employment.
The focus group was part of the regional project “Western Balkans Initiative on Tackling Informal Employment on Online Platforms”, financed by the Western Balkans Fund (WBF). The project is implemented in cooperation with partner organizations from Albania and Serbia, with the aim of facilitating scientific exchange and strengthening capacities between the three partner organizations.
Focus group participants discussed the legal framework that regulates employment on digital platforms, challenges in monitoring informal employment and the work of inspectors, and the impact of informal employment on labour market participants, including employers, workers, state institutions and unions. The discussions provided valuable insights into the complex aspects of the informal labour market in the country and shed light on the similarities, differences and impacts of these characteristics on the regulation of online platforms in the Western Balkan region.
This event was crucial for the exchange of experiences and ideas that will contribute to a better understanding and regulation of informal employment on digital platforms in the region. The participants expressed satisfaction with the results achieved and the importance of continuing such initiatives to improve working conditions in online labour markets.
The CREDI centre will continue to monitor and analyse the development of this area, and organize similar events in the future, with the aim of improving regulations and working conditions for all participants in the labour market.
