As part of the Western Balkans State Aid Transparency Initiative, CREDI is pleased to invite representatives of key state aid institutions, ministries, implementing agencies, state aid providers, and other relevant actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to a regional webinar titled “Alignment of State Aid Legislation with the EU Acquis: Key Challenges & Lessons from the Croatian Experience.” The webinar will be held online on 11 December 2025 at 11:00, bringing together experts and institutions from all six Western Balkan economies.
The session will feature Ms. Olgica Spevec, Senior State Aid & Competition Policy Expert with nearly four decades of experience in competition policy and state aid. As Croatia’s former President of the Competition Council, Assistant Minister of Economy, and Member of the EU Negotiation Team for Chapters 8 and 20, Ms. Spevec will share first-hand insights from Croatia’s accession process, including the establishment of an independent state aid regulator and the practical requirements for harmonising legislation and institutional frameworks with the EU acquis.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about:
- Core elements of legislative and institutional alignment required under Chapter 8
- Key capacity-building measures implemented in Croatia during the accession period
- Practical challenges and lessons learned in the pre- and post-accession phases
The event is organised by the WEBecon Network and its partners, with support from the Open Society Foundations Western Balkans. A connection link will be shared with registered participants ahead of the event.
CREDI encourages all state-aid-relevant stakeholders in Bosnia and Herzegovina to join this important exchange aimed at strengthening regional coordination and supporting effective EU integration processes.
