Our researchers, Ilma Kurtović, Amela Kurta and Nermin Oruč, participated at the ETF Skills Lab Network of Experts – MIGCOM webinar titled “Migration and Development in Countries of Origin”, organised by the European Training Foundation (ETF) on 5 May 2025. The webinar brought together international researchers and experts to discuss how migration dynamics shape development outcomes in countries of origin, with a particular focus on skills, labour markets, education systems, and migration policies.
As part of the session “The Migration and Development Nexus Seen from Selected Origin Countries”, Nermin delivered a presentation titled “Aligning Skills Systems with Migration Dynamics in Bosnia and Herzegovina”. His presentation highlighted the growing interconnection between education systems, labour market needs, and migration trends in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the presentation, he introduced CREDI’s ongoing research on the migration–education nexus, including analyses of brain drain, human capital accumulation, and the role of educational institutions in shaping migration pathways. He also presented CREDI’s Skills Intelligence System, which integrates labour market data, migration indicators, employer surveys, and skills forecasting tools to support evidence-based policymaking and the continuous adaptation of vocational education and training systems.
The webinar featured experts from Lebanon, Kosovo, Uzbekistan, Serbia, the United States, and ETF representatives, creating an opportunity for knowledge exchange and strengthening international cooperation on migration and skills policies. CREDI remains committed to advancing research and policy solutions that connect education, labour markets, and migration dynamics in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
