Our researchers, Ilma Kurtović, Amela Kurta and Nermin Oruč, participated at the ETF Skills Lab Network of Experts Regional Webinar titled “Visibility and Value of Skills in Algorithmically Managed Work in the Western Balkans and Türkiye”, organised by the European Training Foundation (ETF) on 12 May 2026. The webinar brought together researchers, policy experts, and practitioners from across the Western Balkans and Europe to discuss the implications of algorithmic management and artificial intelligence for skills development, labour markets, and education systems.
As part of the webinar, Nermin delivered a speech about “Challenges Faced by Workers on Making Their Skills Visible”. His speech focused on the growing influence of digital platforms and algorithmic management systems on the recognition, signalling, and valuation of workers’ skills in increasingly digitalised labour markets.
The webinar addressed broader regional challenges related to skills development systems, reskilling strategies, and micro-credentials in increasingly data-driven labour markets. Participants exchanged experiences and policy perspectives from Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other countries in the region, contributing to a broader dialogue on adapting education and labour market institutions to technological change.
